Brief film history:

's career really took off when she won the "Jeunes Premiers" (Young First) award from Canal+ (a prominent European Film and Television studio). After landing the privilege of acting alongside Nathalie Baye in "Vénus Beauté" ("Venus Beauty Institute" -- English title), directed by Tonie Marshall, Audrey won the César (French equivalent of an Oscar) for "Meilleur espoir féminin" (Most Promising Actress).
Here in the States, Audrey finally became a star following the release of "Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain" ("Amelie" -- American title, "Amelie from Montmartre" -- international English title). (Very roughly:) The story of a shy Parisian waitress who finds the childhood treasure of a 50-year-old man, sets out to make other people's lives better, and ends up getting some assistance with her own life.
"Le Battement d'Ailes du Papillon" ("Happenstance" -- English title), which was released internationally before "Amélie", eventually made it to the U.S., but didn't receive the same acclaim as "Amélie", which was nominated for five Oscars.
"A la Folie... Pas du Tout" ("He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not" -- English title), has been released on DVD in the U.S. "Dirty Pretty Things", Audrey's first English-speaking role received plenty of critical success, and did fairly well at the box office. Hopefully it won't be Ms. Tautou's last.
